His Majesty the King graces Imtrat Mela

Their Majesties also inaugurated a herbal garden dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Fair: His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Gyalytsuen graced the two day Imtrat mela (fair) in Haa in commemoration of the 60th birth anniversary of the fourth Druk Gyalpo this year.

Welcoming their Majesties, the General Staff officer of Imtrat, Colonel R Choudhury, said they are honored by the presence of the august gathering which is a living testimony of the bonds of goodwill, friendship and trust, that exist and continue to grow between  the two nations.

"This raising day in the history of Bhutan is momentous because of the presence of His Majesties and also this year being the 60th birth anniversary of the fourth Druk Gyalpo,"  he said at the opening of the fair.

Their Majesties also inaugurated a herbal garden dedicated to the fourth Druk Gyalpo. A photo exhibition of Bhutan's monarchs visiting Imtrat's raising day and Imtrat since 1962 is also organised at the fair.

The sky diving, motorcycle display and a dog show were popular events at the 53rd Imtrat raising day celebrations. Mesmerizing the crowd gathered at the Imtrat mela ground, four sky divers from the Indian army jumped from a helicopter from a height of  6000 feet to the ground that was all decked up for the celebrations.

More than 2 dozen bikers also enthralled the crowd with a breath taking display of riding skills an riding through a ring of fire, a brick wall and a wall of electric tubes. The famous stunt motorcycle team "Tornadoes" of Army Civil Corps has been entertaining the crowd since 1982.

The team from RVC Centre College, Meerut also performed to the crowd its highly trained army dogs show, which comprises of display of numerous skills including obstacle crossing, adherence to verbal commands proficiency in explosive and narcotics detection.

The fair which offered a wide range of games, food stalls, entertaining for children, and a variety of goods on sale is organised annually to celebrate Imtrat's Raising day and to foster and promote good relations between India and Bhutan.

Members of the Royal family and senior government officials have been traditionally invited to inaugurate the event to celebrate the bond of friendship and goodwill between the two countries.

The Indian Military Training team, popularly known as IMTRAT, established in Bhutan on October 16, 1962, to provide precourse training to the officers of RBA & RBG.
